🗓️ How Pickup Works
Household garbage is picked up once a week. Recycling is picked up every other week from the curb on your regular garbage day. Bulk items are collected on the same day as recycling. Garbage is collected only from approved 95-gallon City carts, up to 2 per household.
The City's Environmental Services Division handles residential garbage collection and cart repairs.
| Cart | Sizes | How often |
|---|---|---|
| 🗑️ Trash | 95 gallon (City-approved cart required; up to 2 per household) | weekly |
| ♻️ Recycling | 95 gallon | every other week |
🛋️ Bulk Item Pickup
- 📞How to book: Bulk items are collected on the same day as recycling (see the recycling calendar); set items out before the truck passes, as collection starts at 6 a.m. Items missed on the pass wait until the next scheduled pickup day. Appliances go at the curb on your scheduled pickup day, where a separate truck collects them. Questions: Customer Service, 336-883-3111.
- 📏Limits: For occasional items only, not a whole-house cleanout. Keep limbs, yard waste and recyclables out of the bulk pile. Lumber from a resident's own project must be cut to 8 feet or less. Carpet rolls no more than 4 feet long, 18 inches in diameter and 50 pounds, maximum 2 rolls. Tires, televisions and computers are not collected; contractors must dispose of their own waste. Items must be at least 3 feet from obstructions; piles left after two warning tags are removed by the City at $250 per load.

🎄 Holiday Delays
Collection is suspended on the listed garbage holidays, and pickup shifts one day later for that day and the rest of the week. The FAQ says the schedule stays the same when a holiday falls on a Friday. Holidays named: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
