🗓️ How Pickup Works

Household garbage is collected weekly (up to 2 rollout carts). Recycling follows an every-other-week A/B schedule; large limbs are collected on A weeks and bulky items on B weeks, on the same day as yard waste. Place carts 1 foot from the curb by 6 a.m.

City crews collect household garbage, yard waste, large limbs and bulky items. The City says it works with Waste Management on recycling but does not say who physically collects recyclables.

🛋️ Bulk Item Pickup

• 💵Cost: 5 items or less: no charge. 6 or more items, up to 20 cubic yards: $100.00 per load (scheduled). More than 20 cubic yards: $357.00 per load (scheduled). Owner-generated construction debris, including carpet, must be paid and scheduled. Fees must be paid before collection.
• 📞How to book: Request through the FayFixIt app, call 910-433-1FAY (1329), or visit 455 Grove Street. Metal items (refrigerators, washers, dryers, bicycles, lawnmowers, weed eaters) must be scheduled by phone. Bulky items are collected on B week, the same day as yard waste; metal items only on Wednesdays.
• 📏Limits: Single-family residential units only. Place items at least 4 feet from other objects, out of the road and away from power lines, trees, mailboxes, cars and fences. Not accepted: contractor debris, tires, fuel containers, auto parts and batteries, glass, dirt, rocks, stumps, oxygen and propane tanks, electronics, paint and chemicals, and waste from vacant lots.

🎄 Holiday Delays

No general rule; each holiday is listed with its change. Monday holidays (MLK Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day) move Monday service to Wednesday. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day move garbage and yard waste to Wednesday and recycling to Saturday. Good Friday, Juneteenth and Independence Day (observed) are collected as usual. Veterans Day: no Wednesday collection. Recycling usually stays on its regular day unless noted. Holidays named: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.

Each single-family home is issued one green and one blue 96-gallon cart; carts are not issued to unoccupied dwellings. Call the 1FAY Call Center at 910-433-1329 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday).
