📦 Will It Fit? Pickup Truck or Dumpster Size Calculator
Add up what you are getting rid of and see how full a pickup truck or a 10, 15, 20 or 30-yard dumpster would be, with typical item sizes.
1. Measure a pile, or add items
One loose pile? Pace it off in feet. Otherwise add items below. The item sizes are typical loaded sizes we use as working estimates, not measurements of your things.
2. How full would it be?
Add items or a pile size to see the total.
Pickup capacity is our estimate: a bed about 5 ft wide inside, loaded level with the sides (about 19 inches). Dumpster sizes are named by cubic yards. Heavy loads such as concrete, dirt or roofing can hit a weight limit before the container is full, so ask the company.

❓ Common Questions
How many cubic yards fit in a pickup truck?
By our estimate, about 1.9 cubic yards in a 6.5 ft short bed and about 2.3 in an 8 ft long bed, loaded level with the sides. Stacking higher holds more, but secure and cover the load.
What size dumpster do I need for a garage cleanout?
Add the big items in the calculator, plus a cubic yard or two for boxes and bags. Then pick the smallest size that fits with some room to spare, since loose loads never pack perfectly.
Are these item sizes exact?
No. They are typical loaded sizes we use as working estimates. A sectional, a pile of bags or a broken-down shed can take more or less room. Measure a pile when you can.
