🗑️ Long Beach Trash Pickup

🗓️ How Pickup Works

Trash, recyclables and organics are collected weekly on the same day. Collection can occur between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Place carts out by 6:00 AM on collection day and return them to the property within 12 hours after they are emptied.

City staff collect trash and organics; Waste Management is contracted for recycling. A limited number of permitted private haulers serve some households, and those customers should contact their hauler directly.

🛋️ Bulk Item Pickup

• 💵Cost: Standard special collections are free. A regulatory fee may be charged for items requiring special handling (amount not printed).
• 📞How to book: Request a special collection with the City's online form or call the Call Center at (562) 570-2876. You will be contacted by email or phone to schedule; items cannot go out until a pickup date is confirmed. Set items out no earlier than the evening before and no later than 6:00 am at your normal refuse collection spot.
• 📏Limits: 12 special collections per year for each City-serviced refuse account. Maximum of 8 large items or 25 bags/bundles/boxes per pickup. Items cannot exceed 72" x 48"; items or bundles cannot exceed 40 pounds; bags cannot exceed 25 pounds. Tires 16 inches or smaller, maximum 5 per pickup.

🎄 Holiday Delays

Trash, recycling and organics are collected on all holidays except Christmas (December 25) and New Year's Day (January 1). If either falls on a weekday, collection for that week is delayed one day, ending Saturday. If either falls on a Saturday, collection occurs the Friday before. Holidays named: Christmas, New Year's Day.

Residents receiving City-provided service can check their organics service start month in the City's MapIt application. For other questions the City lists (562) 570-2876, and asks account holders to use its online Service Request Navigator forms.
