Garbage and recycling are collected weekly on the same day of the week; find your service day on the Carolina Waste pickup schedule. Place the roll cart inside the curb, outside the drainage ditch line, near the front of your property no later than 5:30 a.m. on your designated pickup day. Non-Carolina Waste cans and garbage racks are not allowed on the curb. - 📞How to book: Town Public Works collects bulk waste monthly, on the weekday of the 2nd and 3rd full weeks of the month. Set bulk items out separately from regular trash and yard debris. Secure all refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer doors. Call Public Works at 843-851-4225 about jacuzzis or very large items. Keep construction debris (boards, lumber, tile, bricks, plastic) out of yard debris piles.
- 📏Limits: Tree limbs no longer than 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter; larger limbs, large trunk sections and stumps are not picked up. Not accepted: combustible materials, concrete, electronics, paint, sand, televisions, tree stumps and tires.
🎄 Holiday Delays
Garbage and recycling: Carolina Waste closes on the holidays listed; "If your normal pick-up day falls on one of these holidays, the pick-up will typically be made the next day." Yard debris and bulk (Town Public Works): no pickups on New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas; if a normal pickup day falls on a holiday, "the pickup will be the next business day." Holidays named: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
♻️ Recycling
Single-stream: glass, plastic, metal, paper and cardboard all go in the same blue-lid cart. Recycling is taken to the Charleston County Material Recovery Facility.
