🗑️ Spartanburg Trash Pickup

Who collects in Spartanburg, South Carolina, how to find your pickup day, bulk item pickup, holiday delays and what it costs. Checked October 31, 2026.

⚡ Quick Answer

In Spartanburg, residential trash is collected by City of Spartanburg Public Works, Solid Waste. Pickup days depend on your address, so use the official lookup (Garbage Pickup Schedule Map (on the Solid Waste page); recycling days on the City of Spartanburg Recycling Map) to find yours. Questions: (864) 596-3690.

Checked October 31, 2026 against the city's and its hauler's own pages. We never print a pickup day for a whole city, because it changes by street.

🗓️ How Pickup Works

Pickup day depends on your address; the Solid Waste page has a Garbage Pickup Schedule Map, and the Recycling page has a map to find your recycling day (https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=205268375879416581769.0004c0cd646e8569fbc36). Recycling is collected either the first and third Mondays of the month or the second and fourth Mondays, depending on where you live. Carts must be placed on the curb no later than 7:30 am on your scheduled pickup day, 3 feet away from cars, mailboxes and other objects, with lids closed. Leaves, brush and limb piles are collected on a rotation of approximately every 4 to 6 weeks (clockwise rotation by area).

"The City collects household garbage from single-family residences and apartment buildings (5 units or less)." The City provides recycling to residents but "does not provide recycling services to businesses."

🛋️ Bulk Item Pickup

  • 📞How to book: Bulk items such as furniture or appliances must be placed 3 feet away from your cart for pickup. Collection staff notify the City's Solid Waste team, and the item is removed within one to two business days; multiple or larger or heavier items may take longer.
  • 📏Limits: Green waste: limbs no longer than 6 feet or over 6 inches in diameter; separate brush, grass clippings and leaves into three piles at least 3 feet from obstacles; no plastic bags, tree stumps, dirt, land-clearing debris or contractor waste. Paint, liquids, televisions, electronics, tires and yard trimmings do not go in carts; for tires, electronics, construction debris and green waste the City refers residents to Spartanburg County Solid Waste (864-949-0211).
