🗓️ How Pickup Works
Garbage and organic waste are collected weekly. Recycling is collected every other week on an A-week or B-week schedule; check the collection calendar for your week. Place containers at the curb by 6:00am on collection day, no more than 12 hours before collection, and return them to storage within 12 hours after collection.
City crews serve residential customers. Unincorporated Sacramento County is served separately by the County and is not covered here.

🛋️ Bulk Item Pickup
- 💵Cost: Two free household junk appointments per year. For additional pickups call City Utility Billing at (916) 808-5454; the City lists a special service pickup minimum fee of $39.48. Oversized piles may incur a fee (amount not printed).
- 📞How to book: Household Junk Pickup by appointment: submit a Service Request online through 311, use the Sac 311 app, or call 3-1-1 or (916) 264-5011. Cancel by 5:00 p.m. two business days before pickup. Do not put items out more than 24 hours before the appointment, or without one. Appliances and e-waste need a separate appointment.
- 📏Limits: Pile must not exceed 4' x 4' x 9' (about five cubic yards). Free appointments run February through October; not accepted in mid to late October because of leaf season (November to January). Yard waste can be included.
