🗓️ How Pickup Works
Trash is collected weekly. Place the cart with wheels against the curb by 6 a.m. on collection days, at least three feet from parked cars, mailboxes and other obstacles.
The City says WM is the exclusive provider of compost and trash collection for Oakland, and California Waste Solutions is the exclusive provider of recycling for Oakland single-family and multifamily residences.

Place items at the curb by 6 a.m. on the day of your appointment; do not set items out more than one day early or you may face a City fine. A free drop-off appointment at the Davis Street Resource Recovery Complex, 2615 Davis Street, San Leandro, is also offered through the same phone line and link (bring proof of Oakland residency).
- 📏Limits: 2 curbside pickups for single-family homes only. Up to four cubic yards (about 3 ft x 3 ft x 12 ft) of waste plus limited large items: 1 appliance, 2 mattresses or box springs, 2 tires or smaller (rims OK), 2 monitors/CPUs/TVs, and consumer electronics. Drop-off: one free per resident annually, up to four cubic yards.

If a holiday falls on a weekday, collections for the rest of that week move back one day. Holidays on Saturday or Sunday cause no delays.
