❓ Common Questions
Can I drop off a Christmas tree at Golden Bear Transfer Station?
Last season, the Richmond Standard (January 6, 2026) reported that Richmond residents could drop off trees free at Golden Bear Transfer Station, 1 Parr Blvd, through the first weekend in February, with proof of residency. We have not verified this winter's program.
Is curbside tree pickup free in West Contra Costa County?
Last season, the Richmond Standard listed free curbside pickup from December 26 to January 16 in Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito and Kensington, and from January 5 to 16 in Crockett and Rodeo, with details that differ by hauler. Check your hauler for this winter.
What condition must the tree be in?
The Richmond Standard guide says trees must be natural and undecorated, with lights, tinsel, ornaments and stands removed, and that flocked and artificial trees go in the trash.
Does Napa County have a tree pickup?
Napa Recycling's notice lists a Scouting America Christmas Tree Pick-Up and Recycling Day on Saturday, January 10, 2026, the 51st annual event, with trees on the curb by 9:00 a.m. The notice does not list a drop-off site or a fee. The 2027 date is not announced.
What about Alameda County?
The only StopWaste page we found is dated January 5, 2015. It says most jurisdictions pick up trees on the regular collection day in early January, mostly free, with no dates or drop-off sites. That is too old to rely on, so check your city's program.
What about Solano County?
We found only a 2020 Recology flyer for Vallejo, listing a free drop-off at VALCORE Recycling, 38 Sheridan Street, from December 28 to January 22 that year. We found nothing current for Solano County, so we cannot say what is offered this winter.
